Course Description:
This two-part session will touch upon the importance of establishing clear expectations, communications, accountability, and inclusion to assist in developing good working relationships and respectful workplaces. We will use case studies on both days to highlight and practice these skills. We will discuss the skills necessary to become an effective supervisor at the School of Medicine, including how to create a foundation of trust and credibility with your team. We also will discuss the supervisor’s need to balance their own work and their supervisory responsibilities of coaching their employees to success.
The course is offered LIVE via Zoom and recorded in Canvas during its corresponding month.

October 10th, 2024 from 10am – 12pm

When the course opens in Canvas (first of the month of the Live Session date), you will receive an email from Canvas with a link to log in.
The course will be available from the 1st of the month, through the last day of the month surrounding the live session. For example, in October, Live Sessions on October 11th and October 13th, both courses will open on October 1st and close on October 31st.
Expectations:
As a Supervisory Academy participant there are a few expectations:
- Complete the Feedback Survey for each session you participate in. (For more information, review the Feedback Survey Instructions in LearnMed.)
- Complete all pre- and post-work surrounding the Live Session.
- Attend the full Live Session or view the recording in full.
Of note, this is a Stanford University Staff course. If you are not a Stanford University Staff member, you will not receive credit for this course.
