Course Description: 

Effective People management involves understanding the challenges, strengths, goals, and motivations of your employees –– and this begins with active listening. Supervisors play a critical role in promoting employee commitment, motivation, and are key in developing and engaging staff. Most employees want to be successful contributors. They want to know what is expected of them, how they can most effectively achieve those expectations, and help you to build a high-functioning, productive team. Learn some strategies that can help you to effectively manage your team’s performance, and improve business outcomes.

The course is offered LIVE via Zoom and recorded in Canvas during its corresponding month.

January 9th, 2024 from 10am – 12pm

When the course opens in Canvas (first of the month of the Live Session date), you will receive an email from Canvas with a link to log in.

The course will be available from the 1st of the month, through the last day of the month surrounding the live session. For example, in October, Live Sessions on October 11th and October 13th, both courses will open on October 1st and close on October 31st.

Expectations:

As a Supervisory Academy participant there are a few expectations:

• Complete the Feedback Survey for each session you participate in. (For more information, review the Feedback Survey Instructions in LearnMed.)
• Complete all pre- and post-work surrounding the Live Session.
• Attend the full Live Session or view the recording in full. 

Of note, this is a Stanford University Staff course. If you are not a Stanford University Staff member, you will not receive credit for this course.
